Indigenous Peoples’ Day was established to honor the traditional and living cultures of the first people to live on this land. Join us on October 8 for an Indigenous Peoples’ Day Artist Showcase, a collaborative celebration hosted by the Wyoming State Museum and Wyoming Arts Council. Visit the museum between 10 am and 3 pm to meet contemporary three Native artists, witness their methods, and learn about their artistic processes.
- DaleRae Green (Eastern Shoshone) creates intricate beadwork that celebrates her heritage and reconnects the past, present, and future with a more contemporary style and use of colors.
- Rose Pecos-SunRhodes (Jemez Pueblo) is an award winning artist working in the medium of clay. Her traditional hand processed clay & methods are expressed with a contemporary flare. Her artwork is displayed in many collections, including the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. Rose recently wrote a children's book titled, "Magpie Woo'uh'ei," in conjunction with Wyoming Arts Council and the CDC to help build vaccination confidence. It is illustrated with her son Jared's ledger drawings.
